Shockingly fat baby Kyle James Heflinger was born in Columbia, Maryland on the 29th day of November 1999. 25 years later, he still has to ask his mother for the specific time of day when he finds himself talking to astrology fans. Here's his chart, by the way, do with it what you will.

Before the age of 10, Kyle was already running around with a plastic toy camera, pointing it at anything and everything he found remotely interesting. By 12, he found his love of writing on his iPod Touch notes app. No one other than him and the conglomerates who purchased his private data would read his stories or view his photos; it just felt good to put his thoughts and perspective to screen, to make them real.

Kyle graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2022 with a major in Multimedia Journalism and a minor in History. After four years, thousands of dollars in debt, and one BA in Journalism, Kyle was sure of one thing: he did not want to work in the American news industry.

​

So, he lived his life. 2022 found him in Carrboro, North Carolina, working as a bartender and petsitter (with a 5★ User Rating on Rover, mind you). In 2023 he loaded up his truck, drove through Appalachia, and settled in Kansas City, Missouri. During this time, Kyle stepped into a digital marketing role at a local nonprofit. Never content with an excess of free time, he also worked as an Adult English Educator and wedding videographer.

In the fall of 2024, former fat baby Kyle Heflinger spent the season living out of a backpack and traveling in Europe and Africa, spending his time working at farms and hostels, meeting as many people as possible, and doing what he considers the most important thing in life: gaining perspective.

​

All these different roles - volunteer, journalist, bartender, petsitter, marketer, educator, videographer.

As Kyle sees it, there is a commonality between them all: finding new and creative ways to service others.
